Provisional analysis of the first 12,330 reported death cases in the 5th wave:
- Vaccination history
 - Received 4 doses (reached 14 days): 2%
 - Received 3 doses (reached 14 days): 12%
 - Received 2 doses (reached 14 days): 13%
 - Received 1 dose (reached 14 days): 13%
 - Unvaccinated: 60%
- Over 95% fatal cases were elderly aged 60 years or above; 48% were residential care home residents; 93% were with known chronic diseases
- Receiving 3 doses of any vaccines greatly reduces death risk especially in the older age group

COVID-19 Vaccination Programme statistics

- As at Jan 15:
* 121 persons received their first dose of vaccine; a cumulative total of 6,911,564 persons have received their first vaccine dose, making up 94.6% of the population aged 3 or above
* 184 persons received their second dose of vaccine; a cumulative total of 6,791,450 persons have received their second vaccine dose, making up 93.1% of the population aged 3 or above
* 854 persons received their third dose of vaccine; a cumulative total of 5,822,725 persons have received their third vaccine dose, making up 83.6% of the population aged 12 or above
* 5,809 persons received their fourth dose of vaccine; a cumulative total of 988,762 persons have received their fourth vaccine dose
* 621 persons received their fifth dose of vaccine; a cumulative total of 43,835 persons have received their fifth vaccine dose
- a total of 20,558,336 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered for members of the public

Hong Kong Customs detects suspected COVID-19 oral drugs smuggling case

Hong Kong Customs seized about 380 boxes of suspected smuggled COVID-19 oral drugs with a total estimated market value of about $500,000 at Hong Kong International Airport and in Tin Shui Wai on January 11 and 14 respectively.

CHP reminds public on precautions against cold weather

A person who gets influenza and COVID-19 at the same time may be more seriously ill and would have a higher risk of death. Influenza vaccination may reduce the likelihood of hospitalisation and the length of stay. It is important to receive both seasonal influenza vaccination and COVID-19 vaccination as soon as possible, in particular for children and elderly persons residing in the community or residential care homes.
