Provisional analysis of the first 12,747 reported death cases in the 5th wave:
- Vaccination history
 - Received 4 doses (reached 14 days): 2%
 - Received 3 doses (reached 14 days): 14%
 - Received 2 doses (reached 14 days): 13%
 - Received 1 dose (reached 14 days): 12%
 - Unvaccinated: 59%
- Over 95% fatal cases were elderly aged 60 years or above; 47% were residential care home residents; 93% were with known chronic diseases
- Receiving 3 doses of any vaccines greatly reduces death risk especially in the older age group

* 256 persons received their third dose of vaccine; a cumulative total of 5,827,538 persons have received their third vaccine dose, making up 83.6% of the population aged 12 or above
* 1,348 persons received their fourth dose of vaccine; a cumulative total of 1,019,920 persons have received their fourth vaccine dose

Latest shipment of Comirnaty bivalent vaccine arrives in Hong Kong

The latest shipment of about 70 000 doses of the Comirnaty Original/Omicron BA.4-5 bivalent vaccine (i.e. Comirnaty Original/Omicron BA.4-5 (15/15 micrograms)/dose Dispersion for Injection COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine (nucleoside modified)) by Fosun Pharma/BioNTech arrived in Hong Kong on January 21 as arranged by Fosun Pharma.

Latest service status for testing at community testing centres/stations as at 10.30am

A Government spokesman noted on January 21 that the COVID-19 nucleic acid testing capacity is ample and sufficient to meet the demand of the cross-boundary passenger flow before and during the Lunar New Year. There are still about 77,000 and 100,000 testing places available for booking at community testing centres/stations (CTC/CTSs) across the city for January 21 and January 22 respectively, as at 10.30am on January 21.
